Pallet sorting and repair

Sorting and repair is a separate process from producing new pallets - here the machine does not nail a pallet from scratch, but assesses, repairs or dismantles one that has already been in circulation. The set of machines on this page covers the successive stages: inspection, repair, sorting by standard and - for pieces that cannot be repaired - dismantling into reclaimed material.

Who it is for

A sorting and repair station makes sense for service and sorting companies, pallet buy-back points and large users of EPAL pallets, where returns come back on a large scale and have to be classified quickly: for further circulation, for repair or for scrapping into timber.

How it works

The pallet inspection system checks the condition of each pallet at the infeed. Pallets that pass inspection without issues continue in the process. Those with damage suitable for repair are directed to the repair table and assembly table, where individual boards or blocks are replaced. A sorting robot sorts pallets according to predefined criteria, such as standard or technical condition. Finished pallets - after inspection or repair - are stacked by a Cekamon pallet stacker. Pallets that are uneconomical to repair are sent to a pallet dismantling press or under the PalletSaw W saw, where they are disassembled for recoverable material: boards and blocks return for further use.

We supply sorting and repair machines under the Cekamon brand - a different manufacturer from the lines for producing new pallets, where we mainly rely on IMH Machinery and Stakma.

Specifications

Detailed technical specifications for individual machines can be found on their respective pages, including pallet dismantling presses (output up to 75 pallets/h) and Cekamon pallet stackers (up to 6 pallets/min).

If you are looking for machines to produce new pallets rather than to handle returns, see the pallet production line or the full machine catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

How does sorting and repair differ from producing new pallets?

Sorting and repair work on pallets that have already been in circulation - they assess their condition, repair damage or dismantle pieces that cannot be repaired. Production of new pallets, described on the pallet production lines page, nails pallets from raw timber.

Which machines make up a sorting and repair station?

Pallet inspection system, pallet assembly machine, sorting robot, pallet stacker, PalletSaw W saw, pallet dismantling press, repair table and assembly table.

Which brand is behind the sorting and repair machines?

Cekamon - a manufacturer that MDP Serwis supplies specifically for this application, separate from the IMH and Stakma brands used in the production lines.
