Line for pressing pressed wood blocks from sawdust
A pressed wood block, also known as a pallet block or bearer, is an element on which every block pallet, including EUR pallets, is based. Our line produces it from sawdust and wood chips, i.e., waste generated daily in pallet production plants and sawmills.
The pressed block has repeatable dimensions and density, a hole in the middle, and is free from knots or cracks. We designed the line ourselves according to our own concept.
The line is currently in production. Leave your contact details, and we will send you the pre-sale terms and delivery date.

Pressed wood blocks from sawdust - how they are made and where they are used
A pressed block made from sawdust and wood chips replaces a block cut from squared timber. The raw material is waste that is generated anyway during pallet production and wood resawing, and the finished block has a consistent dimension, density, and a mounting hole in the middle.
Application
- block pallets, including EUR pallets, which use 9 blocks,
- one-way pallets, industrial pallets, and export pallets,
- wooden packaging and load bearers.
The most popular format is a 145 x 100 mm block with a height of 78 mm, used in EUR pallets.
Who it is for
For pallet manufacturers who purchase blocks or cut them from squared timber, as well as for sawmills and carpentry workshops with a surplus of sawdust and wood chips. In-house block production transforms waste into a pallet component and provides independence from block suppliers.
How the line works
- Sawdust and wood chips are dried to a low moisture content - the stability and strength of the block depend on this.
- The dry raw material goes into presses, which form the block to a specified shape and density.
- The formed block is hardened.
- Finished blocks undergo quality control: dimension, density, and strength.
Specifications
- Number of presses: 4
- Operation: 1 operator
- Output: 4-4.5 m³ of blocks per 8-hour shift
- Block density: 580-650 kg/m³
- Raw material: sawdust and wood chips
Pressed block vs. solid wood block
- Consistent dimension and density in every piece, free from knots and cracks.
- Less prone to splitting during nailing.
- Does not require protection against mould and pests.
- The raw material is waste, not valuable timber.
Solid wood blocks are cut with a block saw - see the OPK 5800V block saw (55 blocks per minute).
Frequently asked questions
What is a pressed wood block?
It is a block, or bearer, between the bottom boards and the top deck of a pallet. It creates space for forklift tines. A EUR pallet has 9 such blocks.
What are the dimensions of a EUR pallet block?
Corner and side blocks are 145 x 100 mm, and the three blocks in the middle row are 145 x 145 mm. The height of all blocks is 78 mm.
Do blocks made from sawdust require heat treatment (ISPM 15)?
A block made from pressed wood chips is processed wood, which ISPM 15 exempts from phytosanitary treatment. A pallet with solid wood boards still requires HT treatment and marking - the entire pallet determines this, not just the block itself.
How many blocks will the line produce?
4-4.5 m³ per 8-hour shift with one operator. We will calculate the output for your raw material after a consultation.
Can I order the line now?
The line is currently in production. Leave your contact details in the form below - we will send you the pre-sale terms and delivery date.
I have squared timber, not sawdust. What should I choose?
A block saw is used for cutting solid wood blocks. We will advise which option is most cost-effective for your production.
